Very comfortable accommodation set in 7 acres of tranquil tree studded parkland. friendly local hospitality. all units are ground floor with wide patio doorways. there is car parking space outside every unit. all units have fridge, kitchenette, shower, hairdryer, phone, sky tv,heating. onsite restaurant & bar, swimming pool, spa, sauna, games room. an ideal place for business & pleisure. walking distance to town centre and only 35 minutes drive to the ski fields in one direction and taupo in the other. half way between auckland and wellington. just 2 minutes away from the tongariro river. white-water rafting, hiking, scenic flights and fishing guides arranged. wireless internet available. tongariro crossing transport. all enquiries are welcome.

At The Tongariro Riverside B&B Turangi Description

The open plan home has a wooden interior and is sunny and warm. it is situated right on the bank of the tongariro river and there are wonderful views of the river. the guest bedroom has a private entrance through a glass conservatory and overlooks the river and native garden. no smoking inside please.leslie is a retired hotel manager and maryke is a visitor centre manager. they enjoy tramping, trout fly fishing, skiing, gardening and native birdlife. they have an australian cattle dog (stays outside).


Transportation

  • From taupo: travel on state hwy 1 to turangi. as you approach turangi (before the tongariro river) turn right into grace road and left into herekiekie road. the house is the last on right.
  • from south: go 3kms past turangi township on state hwy 1 and turn left into grace road, then as above.
  • arrival time: to ensure that your hosts are home to greet you, please do not arrive before 3.30pm
  • departure: by 10.00am
  • if you are going to arrive after 6pm, please phone your hosts.
